Fall Lawn Seeding – Your Time is limited

Seed your lawn NOW! ……the clock is ticking

Now that temperatures are dropping, it is the ideal time for seeding and repairing your lawn with tall fescue grass seed. Timing for seeding is limited, so read onBad_lawn

Grass seed germinate best in soil that is above 60 degrees and the seedlings grow best in temperatures between 70-80 degrees. Based on typical North Carolina weather, that gives you only two or three weeks to get seeds in the ground to establish a healthy lawn that will endure the winter and thrive in the spring

Many might say, “I will wait for spring.”  Well don’t.  Planting fescue seed in spring will not produce the optimal results because of fungal disease, possible drought, heat and weeds.

About Tall Fescue
Because it thrives in harsh summer conditions of sun, shade and high traffic, tall fescue is the most widely grown species in North Carolina. The grass is tolerant to heat and drought, disease resistant and requires minimum care.

Tall fescue has a medium to dark green color and is a bit coarser in texture than perennial ryegrass.  Germination is 6-15 days depending on soil temperatures. Optimum mowing height for this grass type is 2 to 3 inches.
